JAMMU, July 15: The Reasi district administration has issued an advisory warning of possible fluctuations in the water level of the Chenab River between July 16 and July 26 due to scheduled silt flushing operations at the Salal and Baglihar hydroelectric projects.
According to the advisory, the controlled release of water during the maintenance exercise could lead to a sudden rise or fluctuation in the river’s water level downstream.
The administration has advised residents living along the Chenab, as well as visitors, fishermen and livestock owners, to stay away from the river during the notified period.
People have also been asked not to attempt crossing the river or engage in any activity in vulnerable stretches where water levels may change without prior warning.
The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during the silt flushing operations.
The district administration appealed to the public to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and cooperate with the authorities until the completion of the exercise. (KNT)
