According to police, a detention warrant against Janu Kumar was issued by the Jammu district magistrate. Acting on the warrant, police conducted raids at various suspected locations and apprehended him.

After execution of the PSA warrant, he was lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu, officials said, describing Janu as a habitual offender allegedly involved in six cases related to attempt to murder, possession of sharp-edged weapons, snatching and other offences.

In a separate operation, police detained Karan Kumar under a PSA warrant issued by the Jammu divisional commissioner.

A team from R S Pura police station carried out raids at suspected hideouts and arrested him, officials said. He was subsequently lodged in Rajouri district jail.

Police said Karan has a criminal history involving attempt to murder, illegal possession of sharp-edged weapons, snatching and association with other criminals in the area. Five criminal cases are registered against him.

Police said the action came as part of a crackdown against habitual offenders, gangsters and anti-social elements to maintain public order and ensure the safety of citizens.

Officials said such preventive operations would continue across the district to maintain peace.
