KATHUA: Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Justice Sanjeev Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a new court complex at Mahanpur and inaugurated the newly constructed court complex at Basohli in Kathua district.
The foundation stone laying ceremony at Mahanpur was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma, judicial officers, civil administration officials and members of the Bar.
The Basohli court complex was inaugurated in the presence of Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Administrative Judge for Kathua district, Additional Deputy Commissioner Basohli Pankaj Bagotra, representatives of the Bar and officers of the civil administration.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Sanjeev Kumar said the High Court remained committed to strengthening judicial institutions through the creation of modern infrastructure. He said the development of judicial infrastructure in Kathua had been made possible through the support of the civil administration and the people of the district.
Justice Rajnesh Oswal said Kathua had witnessed significant expansion of judicial infrastructure over the past two years, including the inauguration of court complexes at Kathua, Hiranagar and Basohli, the laying of the foundation stone for the Mahanpur court complex, and the construction of lawyers’ chambers and judicial quarters.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua Jatinder Singh Jamwal said the new infrastructure would strengthen the justice delivery system and improve access to justice for litigants.
Bar Association Basohli president Shub Kumar also addressed the function and thanked the High Court for establishing modern judicial infrastructure in the region.
