The meeting reviewed the progress of the Yatra and took stock of arrangements made in view of the high turnout of pilgrims this year.

It also discussed recommendations submitted by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Chief Executive Officer Mandeep K. Bhandari based on reports of committees constituted to assess facilities on the ground.

According to the statement, the recommendations include complete tiling of the track up to the Holy Cave Shrine, widening of narrow stretches and bridges, construction of retaining walls at landslide-prone locations, augmentation of rain shelters and waiting sheds, installation of iron barricades for crowd management, and ensuring adequate availability of palkis and stretchers for medical emergencies.

The meeting also reviewed the availability of toilets, bathing facilities, drinking water, sanitation, waste management, first-aid and medical services at Yatra camps and holding areas. It further discussed installation of additional digital display boards, strengthening firefighting infrastructure and enhancing disaster preparedness.

Senior officials briefed the Chief Secretary on the progress made by their respective departments in implementing the recommendations, while the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, and the Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal presented updates on the overall conduct of the pilgrimage.

Dulloo directed all line departments to constitute dedicated audit teams to regularly inspect infrastructure and facilities along both Yatra routes, identify deficiencies and ensure their immediate rectification.

He also stressed the need for close coordination among all departments and agencies, saying there should be no delays or complacency in ensuring the safety, security and convenience of pilgrims, the statement said.
