Police seize seven vehicles in illegal mining crackdown in Pulwama, Shopian

SRINAGAR: Police on Friday seized seven vehicles allegedly involved in illegal mining operations in Pulwama and Shopian districts.

In Pulwama, police intercepted and seized three tractors loaded with illegally extracted mining material. The accused were identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat; Mohammad Younis Magray, son of Farooq Ahmad Magray; and Waseem Raja, son of Bashir Ahmad Magray, all residents of Wahibugh.

The vehicles and the illegally extracted material were taken into custody. Police registered FIR No. 122/2026 at Police Station Pulwama under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is underway.

In Shopian, a police party from Police Post Berthipora, during routine patrolling, seized three dumpers and one JCB allegedly involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without the required permission.

An FIR (No. 67/2026) has been registered at Police Station Keller under relevant sections of law, and investigation has been initiated.
