Srinagar/Jammu: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday trapped a Senior Assistant posted at the office of Inspector of Factories and Boilers, Labour Department, Jammu, in a bribery case, alleging that the official was accepting illegal gratification on behalf of another public servant.
The ACB registered FIR No. 04/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Er. Ravinder Krundu, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), presently posted in the office of Inspector of Factories and Boilers, and Gurdass, Senior Assistant.
According to the ACB, Ravinder Krundu had allegedly demanded ₹60,000 from the complainant for processing and clearing a boiler inspection case. The amount was later allegedly settled at ₹40,000 through his office clerk, Gurdass.
The complainant approached the ACB after refusing to pay the bribe. Following receipt of the complaint, the agency conducted a discreet verification, which allegedly confirmed the demand of illegal gratification through the office clerk.
A case was subsequently registered at Police Station ACB Jammu and investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, an ACB trap team was constituted, which allegedly caught Gurdass, Senior Assistant, red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant on behalf of Ravinder Krundu in the presence of independent witnesses.
The ACB said Ravinder Krundu was not present in his office at the time of the trap. Gurdass was arrested on the spot after following due legal procedure, while the tainted money was recovered from his possession in the presence of witnesses.
The agency said searches are also being conducted at the residential premises of both accused persons in accordance with law.
Further investigation into the case is underway, the ACB said.
