Surankote (Poonch): Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Saturday said the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to fulfilling its promises and ensuring phased regularisation of eligible adhoc and daily wager employees while addressing the concerns of people across Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a public gathering at Surankote organised by Choudhary Mumtaz Bajjard and his team, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government is focused on equitable development, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the Pir Panjal region.

During the programme, Mumtaz Bajjard submitted a memorandum highlighting various demands and issues of the area.

Surinder Choudhary said the government is prioritising improvement of road infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir and assured that Surankote would receive its due share of developmental projects. He also approved a road project on the spot aimed at improving connectivity in the area.

Calling Surankote one of the most remote areas of Poonch district, the Deputy Chief Minister said the outreach programme was organised there instead of the district headquarters to ensure that governance reaches people living in far-flung areas.

He said the government is taking administration closer to the people by directly interacting with citizens and listening to their concerns.

Along with National Conference Provincial President Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta, Choudhary met party functionaries, including block and district presidents, members of the women’s wing and youth wing, to gather feedback on local issues.

The Deputy Chief Minister said several grievances related to Rural Development, Public Utilities, Education, Health and Drinking Water were brought before him during the interaction. He assured that all genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned departments and the Deputy Commissioner Poonch for timely resolution.

He also urged party workers to prepare for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies elections.

Addressing the gathering, National Conference Provincial President Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta said the objective of the Omar Abdullah-led government is to provide a responsive and accountable administration.

“We are here to listen to the people, understand their problems and ensure that appropriate action is taken,” Gupta said.

Criticising the previous administration for what he termed neglect of public issues, Gupta said the present government is committed to restoring public confidence through transparent governance, timely development and effective service delivery.

He reiterated the National Conference’s commitment towards strengthening grassroots democracy and ensuring inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir.
