Srinagar: Police in Sopore have attached an immovable property belonging to a “notorious drug peddler” under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The attached property comprises a double-storey residential house valued at approximately ₹30 lakh, and belongs to Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh of Dharnambal, Tarzoo, Sopore, a police spokesman informed Wednesday.
He said the action was taken following a detailed enquiry and financial investigation, which revealed that the property had been acquired from proceeds generated through illicit narcotics trafficking.
The property was accordingly identified as illegally acquired and attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, police said.
