“We have filed the PIL in J&K High court hoping to put an end to the pay disparities in 7th pay commission where J&K police cops are facing discrimination. The hearing of the petition is on Wednesday. We hope our fight for right of police personals will bear fruits,” he added.

Sheikh Javiad further said, “Police department is the only department in J&K which has been left from various advantages of 7th pay commission and by filing the PIL we seek an end to this discrimination and also demand 10% hike in hardship allowances for the cops.”

Advocate Altaf lone, another petitioner of the PIL said, “There is a huge disparity in the pay scale of police as compared to other government employees.”

“In 7th pay commission a meager 2.5% hardship allowance has been earmarked for the policemen which is an injustice,” he added.
