IGNOU admissions begin for July 2026 session across Kashmir and Ladakh

SRINAGAR: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced the admission process for the July 2026 session for its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Programmes across Kashmir Valley and Ladakh.

Admissions are being offered in more than 300 undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, diploma and postgraduate diploma programmes through 30 study centres functioning under the IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar.

According to the university, prospective learners can apply online through the official IGNOU website and the admission portal. Applicants are required to create a User ID and Password on the SAMARTH portal before filling out the admission form.

Candidates have been advised to keep their mobile number, email ID, scanned academic documents, photograph, APAAR ID and online payment facilities ready while applying. The university has also advised applicants to use their own mobile numbers and email IDs during registration and preserve their login credentials for future reference.

IGNOU has introduced several new academic programmes for the session, including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry and Facilities & Service Management.

Newly launched programmes also include M.Sc. in Climate Change, PG Diploma in Climate Change and a Certificate Programme in Criminal Justice Social Work.

Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, Dr. A.H. Rizvi, urged prospective learners to complete the admission process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute inconvenience.

He also cautioned students against fraudulent calls and messages seeking payments through QR codes, WhatsApp or social media platforms, stating that IGNOU accepts payments only through its official online portals.

The last date for submission of online admission forms for the July 2026 session has been fixed as July 15, 2026.

Meanwhile, IGNOU has also informed that the re-registration process for learners already enrolled in ODL and Online Programmes is currently underway. Students enrolled in the second and subsequent years or semesters have been advised to complete their re-registration before June 30, 2026.

For assistance regarding admissions and re-registration, students may contact the IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar at Saida Kadal, Rainawari, Srinagar.
