Jammu: Extensive preparations are underway for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, with authorities working to provide improved facilities and services for pilgrims compared to last year, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo said on Monday.

He expressed confidence that pilgrims will have a smooth and comfortable experience during the 57-day yatra which is scheduled to commence on July 3 in the south Kashmir Himalayas and conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

“All necessary administrative and security arrangements are being made and will be fully completed before the start of the pilgrimage. As you know, various aspects such as electricity supply, water supply, accommodation for pilgrims, transportation, security, and healthcare arrangements are being worked on. All these arrangements are being put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra,” the chief secretary told reporters.

Dulloo said efforts were underway to provide facilities superior to those available during last year’s pilgrimage.

He said comprehensive arrangements would be made to ensure the safety and convenience of the pilgrims.

“I would like to assure everyone that complete arrangements will be in place for the pilgrims, and their experience during the Yatra will be a very pleasant one,” the chief secretary added.
