DC Srinagar reviews Independence Day arrangements

SRINAGAR, JULY 31: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Tuesday convened a meeting to review the arrangements for Independence Day celebrations in the district where the main function will be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium at Sonwar.

The meeting discussed various aspects of the function including arrangements put in place at the new venue, security, march past parade, cultural programmes, seating, parking besides arrangements for rehearsals including transportation and accommodation for participants.

The DC issued specific instructions to all concerned departments to ensure that all arrangements are made well in advance. He said the PWD and PDD have particularly important role to play given the new venue of the main function this year and asked them to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for smooth conduct of the programme.

It was informed that a colorful programme has been chalked out for the occasion with cultural and special variety programmes to be presented by school children besides participants from the Information department and the Cultural Academy.

The DC asked the Cultural Academy to ensure that cultural programmes presented this year should be vibrant and based on fresh ideas. He also instructed the concerned departments to make sure that proper arrangements are made for transportation, refreshments and accommodation for the participants during the entire period of rehearsals starting tomorrow.

Dr Shah directed for close coordination between the concerned departments to ensure proper communication for the smooth conduct of the function. He also instructed the concerned departments to ensure thorough maintenance of venue, cleanliness and proper parking facilities for all visitors.

ADC Srinagar, SDMs East and West, Senior officers from Police and Army, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar, Joint Director Information Kashmir, senior officers from PWD, PDD, PHE, SMC, Cultural Academy besides other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
