Srinagar: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, on Friday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of World Environment Day and called for collective efforts to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.

He stressed that environmental conservation is essential not only for sustainable development but also for ensuring food security, agricultural productivity and the well-being of communities.

Highlighting the importance of environmentally sustainable agricultural practices, Dar emphasized the need to promote afforestation, conserve water resources and reduce pollution. He urged farmers, youth, educational institutions and civil society organisations to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives and contribute towards building a greener and healthier future.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient farming practices and environmental conservation across Jammu and Kashmir. He said several initiatives are being undertaken to enhance green cover, encourage efficient use of natural resources and strengthen awareness about environmental protection.

Calling for greater public participation, Dar urged all stakeholders to make environmental consciousness a way of life and work collectively towards ecological sustainability and climate resilience.

“Let us pledge to work together for the preservation of our environment and ensure that future generations inherit a cleaner, greener and more sustainable world,” he said.
