Srinagar: Bisma Majid, a master’s student at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, has secured a fellowship to pursue a PhD in Agriculture at University of Guelph.
Bisma Majid, a student of the Division of Plant Pathology at SKUAST-K, has received admission to the Doctor of Philosophy programme in Plant Agriculture and is set to begin her doctoral studies from September 2026.
The admission comes with a full scholarship package, including guaranteed funding for four years through a Graduate Research Assistantship provided by her doctoral advisor Jay Subramanian.
She has also qualified for the highly competitive International Doctoral Tuition Scholarship, adding further recognition to her academic achievements.
Vice Chancellor Nazir Ahmed Ganai congratulated the scholar and described the achievement as a proud moment for the university, reflecting the institution’s growing research and academic excellence.
Dean Faculty of Agriculture Raihana Habib Kanth and Head of the Department of Plant Pathology Anwar Ali also congratulated her and wished her success in future academic pursuits.
Bisma expressed gratitude to her mentors Najeeb Mughal, Sajad Majeed Zargar and Latief Ahmad for their guidance and support throughout her academic journey.
