Jammu: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against an assistant executive engineer in the hydraulic sub-division in Kishtwar district, officials said.
According to the ACB, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The case was registered following a verification conducted by the ACB’s Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban wing into allegations that Assistant Executive Engineer Ashiq Hussain Rather had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, they said.
Officials said the verification revealed that the accused was allegedly in possession of substantial movable and immovable assets in his own name and in the names of his family members.
These include a five-storey residential house on Court Road in Doda, land parcels at Udrana in Bhaderwah and Sunjawan in Jammu, sizable bank balances, including fixed deposits, as well as costly electronic gadgets and jewellery, they said.
The ACB alleged that the value of the assets acquired by the suspect was disproportionate to the income earned from all known sources.
During the investigation, the bureau obtained search warrants from a competent court and conducted searches at the suspect’s residential and official premises in Doda and Kishtwar districts in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses, officials said.
Further investigation into the case is underway, the ACB added.
