CS inaugurates Centre for Good Governance & Policy Analysis at IUST

  Dulloo lauds university’s academic, research initiatives

Awantipora: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Thursday inaugurated the Centre for Good Governance and Policy Analysis (CGG&PA) at Islamic University of Science and Technology during a visit aimed at strengthening policy research, governance innovation and institutional collaboration.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary toured Campus I and Campus III of the university and inspected various laboratories and academic facilities besides interacting with faculty members and officers.

Atal Dulloo appreciated the efforts of the university faculty and staff in advancing academic and research activities, particularly the introduction of programmes in frontier sciences and artificial intelligence in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

He also praised the university’s initiatives in strengthening industry linkages, promoting innovation and fostering research-oriented collaborations.

Congratulating Vice Chancellor Shakil A. Romshoo and his team, the Chief Secretary expressed confidence that the Centre for Good Governance and Policy Analysis would strengthen the university’s role in policy research and institutional development.

He said the university possesses significant potential to contribute towards improving ease of living through meaningful collaborations with government departments and national institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Romshoo highlighted the university’s achievements and outlined its vision for academic excellence, innovation and public engagement.

He said the university has emerged as an active contributor to several flagship national missions through work in sustainability, emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, healthcare and community development.

The Vice Chancellor also thanked the government for its continued support in strengthening the university’s academic and research ecosystem.

Earlier, Director CGG&PA G. N. Itoo said the centre would serve as a platform for promoting evidence-based policymaking, interdisciplinary research and collaboration between academia and government institutions to address governance and developmental challenges.

A documentary showcasing the university’s academic, research, innovation and outreach initiatives was also screened during the event.
