Srinagar: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Nasir-ul-Islam Farooq on Sunday announced that Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on May 27, 2026.

He said the crescent moon for the holy month of Dhul Hijjah was sighted in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Kargil.

“The testimony regarding the sighting of the moon was received from Kargil and parts of J&K. As a result, the month of Dhul Hijjah (1447 AH) will commence from Monday, May 18, 2026,” the Grand Mufti said.

He said Eid-ul-Adha will be observed on Wednesday, May 27.

Extending greetings to the people, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam hoped the festival would bring peace, prosperity and happiness to Jammu and Kashmir.
