Srinagar: Two tourists were killed and three people, including a local driver, injured when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday, officials said.
A cab carrying tourists from Gujarat met with an accident on the Pahalgam-Aru route in the south Kashmir district, the officials said.
Two tourists, including a woman, were killed in the accident while three people, including the driver, were injured, they said.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital, the officials added.
Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha condoled the deaths and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
Sinha posted on X: “I am deeply anguished by the road accident in Aru, Pahalgam, in which two tourists from Gujarat lost their lives & few others are injured. Directed senior officials to provide all possible support. My condolences to bereaved families. Praying for speedy recovery of the injured.
“Condolences to the families of the victims, my thoughts are with the injured and the families who lost their loved ones.”
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident.
In a post on his official handle on X, the CM conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
