Srinagar: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Javid Ahmad Dar on Thursday reviewed the status of veterinary units across Kashmir and assessed progress under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and Union Territory sector schemes of the Agriculture Production Department (APD).
The review meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar and attended by Director Finance APD, Director Planning APD, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir and other senior officers.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed manpower requirements in the Animal Husbandry Department and was informed that all formalities for filling vacant posts of veterinarians and para-veterinarians have been completed as per guidelines.
Officials also informed the Minister that the tendering process for pending works is expected to begin shortly.
Stressing the need to strengthen veterinary healthcare infrastructure, Javid Dar directed officers to complete the tendering process within one week while ensuring transparency and adherence to procedural norms.
The Minister also reviewed budget allocations and expenditure under various developmental programmes and sought details regarding physical and financial progress achieved under Centrally Sponsored and UT sector schemes across Jammu and Kashmir.
He directed officers to intensify monitoring of ongoing projects, particularly those being implemented under NABARD and other flagship schemes.
The Minister instructed officials to conduct random field inspections to verify on-ground progress and ensure that benefits of the schemes are reaching stakeholders effectively.
Highlighting the importance of modernising the livestock sector, Javid Dar stressed comprehensive upgradation of farms and strengthening of training infrastructure to improve technical support for farmers.
He said timely and judicious utilisation of allocated funds was essential for achieving development targets and directed officers to ensure strict adherence to project timelines.
Earlier, Director Finance APD presented a detailed financial review regarding sanctioned allocations, fund releases and expenditure under various schemes for the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27.
