Admissions will be offered in more than 60 major subjects across various disciplines and will be based strictly on merit obtained in the Class 12 examination.

According to the Directorate, the admission process will be conducted in multiple phases. The first merit list will be published on May 30, followed by admission and fee submission from June 1 to June 6. The second merit list will be issued on June 9, while admissions under this phase will take place between June 10 and June 15.

A spot round for vacant seats, if any, will be conducted from June 18 to June 25, 2026.

The department said classwork in Winter Zone colleges will commence from June 15, while Summer Zone colleges will begin academic sessions from July 15, 2026.

The Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes have been structured in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and offer multiple exit options. Students can exit after the first year with a certificate, after the second year with a diploma, after the third year with an undergraduate degree, or complete the fourth year to earn an Honours or Honours with Research degree.

Officials said the framework also facilitates direct PhD admissions for students completing the four-year Honours with Research programme, besides providing clear pathways for postgraduate studies.

A non-refundable registration fee of ₹200 has been fixed for applicants.

Students are required to upload scanned copies of their Class 10th and 12th marks certificates, a recent passport-size photograph, Aadhaar number, domicile certificate (if available), and category certificate (if applicable) during the registration process. The uploaded documents must be in PDF or JPG format and should not exceed 1 MB in size.

Applicants have been advised to visit the official admission portal for details regarding programmes offered, subject combinations, fee structure, college-wise helplines, detailed admission notification, and registration guidelines.

The department has also established counselling and facilitation centres at all Government Degree Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir to assist students in form submission and preference filling.

Director Colleges J&K, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, appealed to students and parents to carefully read the admission guidelines and registration manual available on the portal before submitting their preferences.

He also urged aspirants to make full use of the counselling and facilitation centres established at colleges to avoid errors during the admission process.

For real-time updates, students and parents have also been advised to follow the Directorate’s official WhatsApp admissions channel: (https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbByAXd5q08WHz43oL2M).
