Srinagar: Continuing the crackdown against illicit narcotic cultivation under the Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, the Central Kashmir Excise Range on Saturday destroyed illegal poppy cultivation at multiple locations across Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts.
The drive was carried out under the leadership of Excise Commissioner Vaibhav Kohli and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Kashmir, Tabassum Shafat Kamili.
Officials said the anti-narcotics operation was conducted jointly by the Excise Department in collaboration with the Police, Revenue and Agriculture departments across the Srinagar-Budgam-Ganderbal Excise Range.
During the drive, illegal poppy cultivation was identified and destroyed at various locations, while FIRs under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered at the concerned police stations.
Authorities said all legal formalities, including seizure, sampling and destruction of the illicit crop, were completed on the spot as per prescribed procedures.
Officials stated that the enforcement action reflects the Excise Department’s continued commitment towards curbing illegal narcotics-related activities and ensuring strict implementation of the law under the ongoing anti-drug campaign.
