Srinagar: The outbound Hajj movement from Srinagar concluded on Tuesday with the final flight taking off, marking the successful completion of a smooth and coordinated airlift operation.
Executive Officer of the J&K Haj Committee, Dr Shujaat Ahmad Qureshi, said that a total of 3,952 pilgrims departed from the Srinagar Hajj Embarkation Point in 28 flights to Madina.
The departing pilgrims included 2,201 males and 1,751 females, while the total number of pilgrims from Jammu & Kashmir scheduled to perform Haj this year stands at 4,692. He added that the remaining pilgrims are travelling via Delhi and Mumbai embarkation points, while 12 pilgrims had to cancel their journey due to health issues.
With the final flight taking off, the embarkation process from Srinagar has officially concluded.
Authorities at Srinagar International Airport confirmed that all 28 flights departed smoothly as part of a well-coordinated effort involving multiple agencies, and extended best wishes to pilgrims for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey.
The Haj departures from Srinagar had commenced on April 18, following a review of arrangements by Haj Committee of India CEO Shanavas C, who inspected facilities at Haj House Bemina and the airport to ensure smooth and pilgrim-friendly services.
Officials had earlier stated that around 4,700 pilgrims from J&K would undertake the pilgrimage this year.
Meanwhile, Dr Qureshi said refunds ranging between ₹17,000 and ₹31,000 have been credited to Haj 2025 pilgrims due to deficiencies in facilities, including accommodation in the Markazia area of Madina and transport services in the Mashair region. (KNO)
