Baramulla: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, continues to promote a vibrant sports culture across the district, with a series of inter-school zonal-level competitions witnessing enthusiastic participation from hundreds of young athletes.
In Zone Dangerpora, an Inter-School Under-14 event was organised at AFI Dangerpora, drawing an impressive participation of 420 students from both government and private institutions. The event was attended by Mushtaq Sopori, Principal of Higher Secondary School Dangerpora, as the chief guest, who appreciated the department’s efforts in nurturing young talent and encouraged students to actively engage in sports for overall development.
Meanwhile, Zone Pattan hosted an Inter-School Chess Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 boys at GHSS Pattan under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan. The competition saw the participation of 42 students, who displayed strategic thinking and competitive spirit.
In another event, Zone Singhpora Kalan organised an Inter-School Badminton Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 girls at GHSS Singhpora Kalan, where young athletes showcased remarkable skill and determination on the court.
Adding to the sporting momentum, Zone Dangiwacha held an Inter-Cluster/Zonal-Level Volleyball Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 boys on May 4. The event recorded significant participation across clusters. In Cluster Behrampora alone, 180 students in the Under-14 category and 48 in the Under-17 category took part.
At the zonal level in Dangiwacha, 180 students in the Under-14 and 84 in the Under-17 categories participated, taking the overall participation to an impressive 492 students. The competitions highlighted not only the growing enthusiasm for sports among youth but also the spirit of teamwork and healthy competition across Baramulla district.
