Seven-year-old Ishank Singh creates history with 29-km Palk Strait swim

New Delhi: Seven-year-old swimmer Ishank Singh has created history by successfully crossing the 29-kilometre Palk Strait, completing a challenging open-water swim from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in India.

With this feat, Ishank has emerged as one of the youngest swimmers to accomplish the demanding crossing, which is known for its strong currents, unpredictable tides, and open-sea conditions.

Officials and observers described the achievement as remarkable, highlighting the young swimmer’s endurance, determination, and disciplined training required to complete such a long-distance open-water challenge.

The accomplishment adds Ishank Singh’s name to the list of notable open-water swimmers who have conquered the Palk Strait, marking a significant milestone in India’s sporting achievements at a very young age.
