Preparations for the large-scale rally were reviewed by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, who chaired a meeting at TRC with senior officials from various departments to finalise arrangements and ensure smooth conduct of the programme.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner stressed the need for coordinated efforts across departments to maximise participation and ensure effective execution. He said the Pad Yatra aims to send a strong and unified message against drug abuse while reinforcing efforts to dismantle drug peddling networks.

Officials informed that over 35,000 participants from different sections of society are expected to take part in the event, reflecting a collective commitment towards building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Garg highlighted that the initiative follows a “whole-of-government” approach, focusing on prevention, treatment and strict enforcement to combat substance abuse. He described the fight against drugs as not just a policy priority but a broader social responsibility to protect the region’s social fabric.

The meeting also reviewed detailed arrangements, including cultural programmes, screening of awareness videos, a pledge ceremony and a signature campaign. Logistics such as transportation, drinking water, distribution of caps and T-shirts, installation of pandals, deployment of medical teams and ambulances, and fire safety measures were also discussed.

Authorities have extended an open invitation to the general public to participate in large numbers and support the campaign.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, heads of departments, SSP Traffic and other senior police officers.
