JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today emphasised the need to strengthen connectivity across Katra, Reasi and Pouni regions through the proposed Domel–Katra–Reasi–Bambla road project.

Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister assessed the progress of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation and examined the proposed alignment of the project.

 He described the initiative as a vital infrastructure development, saying that the proposed four-lane road will significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and enhance overall mobility in the region

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer PMGSY, Purshotam Kumar, Director Planning and other senior officers.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that approaches connecting the major populated habitations particularly at Reasi, Pouni, and Katra, are comprehensively included in the DPR.

 “Our aim is to ensure improved road connectivity and deliver tangible benefits to the people,” he stated.

During the meeting, the Consultant briefed him on various aspects of the project, including alignment feasibility, land acquisition requirements, tunnel construction, projected travel time savings and potential cost implications.

He instructed the concerned departments to expedite the engagement of consultancy services and fast-track the DPR preparation to facilitate timely approval.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “We are dedicated to ensuring seamless and enhanced road connectivity across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on inclusive and balanced development.”
