BARAMULLA: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Intensified Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, authorities on Friday carried out a series of awareness and outreach programmes across Baramulla district to strengthen the message of a drug-free society.

Continuing the district-wide campaign, multiple programmes were organised to engage different sections of the community and raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

In a major initiative, the Psychiatry Department of Government Medical College Baramulla conducted a day-long interactive session with people who had successfully recovered from substance abuse.

During the session, participants shared their personal experiences, challenges and recovery journeys, while emphasizing the importance of timely intervention, counselling and community support in overcoming addiction.

Meanwhile, several awareness programmes and rallies were held in educational institutions across the district in collaboration with the Police Department. Students were sensitized about the dangers of drug abuse, its legal implications and the need to make informed life choices.

To further widen the campaign’s reach, Municipal Council Baramulla and Municipal Council Sopore, in collaboration with the Information Department Baramulla, organized extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities through mobile IEC vans.

The vans moved through major areas of Baramulla and Sopore towns throughout the day, spreading anti-drug messages through audio-visual content and public announcements to maximise public outreach.
