The celebrations by the members of the Sikh community were also held in various districts of the valley.

Baisakhi, which marks the beginning of the harvest season, is also a commemoration of the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.

Scores of Sikh devotees were seen participating in bhajan kirtans and other religious activities. The Sikh community and other NGOs had set up stalls for langar. Medical camps were also organised for the event.

Meanwhile, people thronged Mughal gardens, Tulip Garden and other parks across Kashmir. People from the Sikh community were seen enjoying the festival with friends and families.

The day marked events at various famous tourist spots, including Pahalgam and Doodhpathri, as well where members of the majority Muslim community also joined the celebrations.
