Dineshwar Sharma meets 11 delegations in Budgam

Budgam, July 28: The centre’s special representative on Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma paid a maiden visit to Budgam and met 11 delegations here at Dak Bungalow on Saturday.

The delegations comprising of civil society members, students and traders from Budgam, Chadoora, Chrar-i-Sharief, Beerwah, Khag and Magam met Sharma. They presented memorandums to Sharma wherein different issues were raised.

Mohammad Altaf Bhat, chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society, a lesser known organization, told ‘Kashmir Images’ that he and other colleagues asked Sharma to put an end to the use of pellet guns, besides scrapping draconian laws in Kashmir.

A student of Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial Degree College Budgam, who met Sharma, said, “We apprised him (Sharma) about the problems of student community whose career is at the stake.” Adding that “We demanded that FIRs against students must be revoked and Kashmir dispute to be resolved.”

Sanaullah Rather, a delegate said, “We categorically told Sharma to start fruitful tripartite dialogue process in Kashmir.”

About development of district, the delegates told Sharma that Budgam has been ignored by successive governments in terms of development. “We asked Sharma to provide better education and healthcare facilities to Budgam. We demanded widening of Humhama-Budgam road. Also, we raised the issue of Dal dwellers who are facing sever challenges,” said a resident of Budgam.

Notably, after meeting delegations, Sharma refused to talk to media persons, who were waiting for hours outside Dak Bungalow.
