SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Floriculture, Kashmir, in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, on Monday organised a therapeutic visit for patients from associated hospitals to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar.

The initiative was aimed at promoting mental well-being, encouraging social interaction and providing patients with a rejuvenating experience in a serene natural setting.

The visit was organised on the initiative of the Director Floriculture, Kashmir, and involved coordinated efforts between GMC Srinagar and its associated hospitals.

Officials said the programme focused on patient safety, structured movement and supervised participation, with medical teams providing on-site supervision and emergency support throughout the visit.

The visit was jointly coordinated by Dr. Shiny Mohiudin and Dr. Adil Fayaz of IMHANS Kashmir, along with Altaf Ahmad, Assistant Floriculture Officer, who accompanied the patients to ensure a comfortable and engaging experience.

The programme also included key technical arrangements such as pre-visit health screening, deployment of medical teams and preparedness for any medical emergency.

The Directorate of Floriculture said the initiative reflects its public-friendly approach of opening gardens, parks and other recreational spaces to people from all sections of society.

It added that the programme was intended to provide an opportunity to those who are otherwise unable to visit such places because of health-related or other constraints.

GMC Srinagar said the initiative also reflects its commitment to holistic healthcare by integrating clinical treatment with psychosocial rehabilitation through meaningful outdoor activities.
