SRINAGAR: The Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Jammu and Kashmir today organised a Buyer seller Meet (BSM-4 of 2025-26) at Conference Hall of New Kashmir Fruit Association Parimpora Srinagar with the aim of strengthening Market Linkages and promoting agribusiness partnership within and outside J&K.
Prominent growers, Traders, Commission agents, FPOs, SHGs, Processors Exporters and Entrepreneurs participated in the event.
The meet was held to promote direct contact between buyers and sellers aiming to create transparency and ensuring better price realisation. The platform helped to bring buyers and sellers together for sharing their knowledge and expertise regarding Good Agricultural Practices, Export Potential of Horticulture Produce and integration with e- Market platforms like e NAM.
The department highlighted its role and commitment to benefit stakeholders by way of facilitating easy market access at various levels, imparting training and capacity programmes.The BSM facilitated direct interaction between buyers, FPOs sellers of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Bandipora and Sopore.
The event was graced by the presence of Dy.Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing Kashmir who apprised the participants about the efforts and plans of the department to develop better Marketing Linkages for local sellers and buyers within and outside UT of J &K. She highlighted the initiatives taken by the government under the schemes like HADP and JK CIP all aimed to minimise post-harvest losses.
Presidents of different fruit and vegetable Associations, FPO’s and SHG’s belonging to District Srinagar, Baramulla, Ganderbal and Bandipora spoke on the occasion and highlighted the issues confronted by them in the trade.
President, New Kashmir Fruit Association expressed satisfaction over the role played by the Department of Horticulture (P&M) under the dynamic leadership of Director, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar in promoting Horticulture Marketing and mitigation of issues faced by fruit growers and traders.
