Srinagar: Ministers Satish Sharma and Sakeena Itoo on Tuesday extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Navratra, highlighting the festival’s spiritual significance and calling for peace, unity and prosperity across the region.
In his message, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, IT, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma described Navratra as a celebration of faith, devotion and inner strength. He said the nine-day festival, dedicated to Goddess Durga, symbolizes the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and truth over falsehood.
Sharma noted that such sacred occasions offer an opportunity to reaffirm commitment to righteousness, compassion and self-discipline, while strengthening communal harmony, brotherhood and mutual respect. Highlighting Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural diversity, he said festivals like Navratra reflect the region’s composite heritage and reinforce unity in diversity.
He urged people to celebrate with devotion and responsibility, while also extending care and support to the underprivileged. The Minister expressed hope that the festival would usher in peace, progress and prosperity, reiterating the government’s commitment to public welfare and inclusive development. He also prayed for the well-being, happiness and good health of all citizens.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo also extended her heartfelt greetings, describing Navratra as a symbol of faith, positivity and collective harmony. She said the festival strengthens bonds of unity and mutual respect among communities and serves as a reminder of shared values of coexistence.
Itoo urged people to celebrate the occasion with devotion while promoting kindness, inclusiveness and care for vulnerable sections of society. She also prayed for the well-being of the people and for continued peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
