Dr Farooq says Omar govt setting new benchmarks in good governance

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, on Monday, said that the government led by Omar Abdullah is setting a new benchmark for transparent and people-centric governance in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Farooq made these remarks while interacting with party functionaries at his residence in Srinagar. During the interaction, he said that since assuming office, the Omar Abdullah-led administration has taken decisive steps to strengthen governance, revive public institutions, and address pressing public concerns.

He noted that the government is working with dedication to improve service delivery, accelerate development, and restore public confidence in democratic institutions.

He emphasised that good governance, transparency, and accountability remain the core priorities of the present administration. He added that the government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every section of society across Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the importance of political empowerment, Dr Farooq reiterated that restoring full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would enable the elected government to function with greater authority and efficiency.

He said that the return of statehood will allow the government to take stronger policy decisions, accelerate development initiatives, and further strengthen democratic governance, thereby helping the region achieve new heights of progress and prosperity.

Dr Farooq also urged party workers to remain connected with the people and actively highlight the government’s initiatives and achievements at the grassroots level. Several party functionaries, including senior leaders Muhammad Khalil Bandh, MLA Bandipora Nizam Ud Din Bhat, MLA Karnah Javed Ahmad Mirchal, District President Kulgam Safdar Ali Khan, Deepak Mahajan, Vijay Kumar, and Shiri Moneesh, were present during the interaction.
