Pulwama: Government Degree College (GDC) Pulwama on Thursday organised a series of extension lectures under the aegis of the DBT STAR College Scheme at the college auditorium.
The programme began with welcome and opening remarks by the Principal, Dr Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, who highlighted the importance of such academic interactions alongside regular classroom teaching.
The first lecture was delivered by Prof Kowsar Majid from NIT Srinagar on the topic “Scientific Temper, Ethics and Responsibility in the Modern World.” In his address, he emphasised the importance of scientific thinking, ethical conduct and responsible behaviour towards the environment.
The second lecture was delivered by Dr Syed Sajad Hussain from IIIM Srinagar, who explained the process of drug development and shared insights from his research in a talk titled “Development of a Phytopharmaceutical for the Management of Sickle Cell Anaemia.”
The programme was attended by faculty members and students, who actively engaged with the speakers, making the session interactive.
The event was coordinated by Dr Shah Ubaidullah, Coordinator of the DBT STAR College programme, while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Niyaz Naikoo, Head of the Department of Biotechnology.
