To assess the prevailing security scenario and strengthen operational preparedness in the remote areas, the SSP, along with additional SP, Reasi, Iftkhar Ahmed, visited the far-flung and terrain-sensitive areas of Mahore and Gulabgarh, a police spokesman said.

Singh met members of the Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in the presence of Army officers, highlighting the importance of strengthening coordination between police, VDGs, and the Army to ensure effective area domination and timely sharing of information.

The SSP also interacted with the police personnel deployed in the area and inspected the existing security infrastructure.

He directed the officers to maintain strict surveillance on overground workers (OGWs), strengthen police-public cooperation, and keep a vigilant watch on weather-induced migratory movements, which may influence the security environment.

The SSP reviewed the availability and condition of arms, ammunition and other essential equipment to ensure sustained operational readiness, the spokesman said.

Considering the challenging terrain and security sensitivities of the region, the officer stressed the need for frequent mock drills, long-range patrols and cordon and search operations to maintain preparedness and ensure prompt response to any emerging security threats.

A public interaction meeting was also held, which was attended by the residents, religious scholars and other respectable members of the area, the spokesman said.

The SSP heard the grievances raised by the locals and assured them of all possible assistance, he said.

Singh emphasised the importance of strong police-public cooperation and also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and share timely information to help maintain peace and security in the area.
