Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar Thursday, said that the promised restoration of statehood will reveal how committed the Central Government is to democracy, dignity and development in Jammu & Kashmir.
In a statement issued today, Sagar said the assurance given by the Hon’ble Prime Minister regarding the restoration of statehood had rekindled hope among the people of J&K. He maintained that statehood is not merely a constitutional arrangement but the rightful empowerment of the people through their elected representatives.
Sagar asserted that the restoration of statehood will enhance administrative efficiency and policy responsiveness. An empowered legislature and elected government, he said, will be better equipped to address region-specific concerns, including infrastructure development, employment generation, industrial growth, tourism, horticulture and youth welfare.
He further said J&K has immense untapped potential and that Statehood would enable policies aligned with local socio-economic realities, accelerating development and encouraging investment.
Highlighting its national significance, Sagar said that restoring statehood would reaffirm faith in democratic processes and strengthen cooperative federalism. “A politically empowered and economically progressive Jammu & Kashmir will further strengthen India’s unity and democratic fabric,” he added, reiterating that the timely restoration of statehood will usher in a new era of peace, stability, and inclusive development in the region.
