Srinagar: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday paid rich tributes to party stalwart Sheikh Nazir Ahmad on his 11th death anniversary.
In a statement, Dr. Farooq Abdullah recalled Sheikh Nazir Ahmad’s lifelong service to the party and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, describing him as a dedicated worker whose organisational abilities and commitment to democratic principles left a lasting impact.
“He strengthened the party at the grassroots and inspired generations of workers. His tireless efforts remain a source of pride for the National Conference,” he said.
Omar Abdullah also paid homage, saying Sheikh Nazir Ahmad’s discipline and commitment continue to guide party workers. He said the void created by his passing is still felt across the organisation and reiterated the party’s resolve to uphold the ideals he championed, placing service above self and principle above position.
Senior party leaders, including General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, legislators and other office-bearers also joined in remembering the late leader and recalled his contributions to the party and the people.
