DC Srinagar inspects functioning of SDH Hazratbal

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today, along with SSP Traffic, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, inspected SDH Hazratbal and took stock of the hospital’s functioning and existing infrastructure.

He also interacted with the incoming patients and medical staff at the Hospital to take an overview of the needs and issues of the SDH that require further augmentation. Spot visits and deliberations were also undertaken to come up with traffic decongestion measures in and around the SDH.

As a part of the District Administration’s efforts to ensure maximum coverage of eligible senior citizens aged 70 years and above under the Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme, providing additional health support of Rs 5 Lakh over and above the existing cover, the Deputy Commissioner presided over a Mega Awareness-cum-Registration Camp at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Hazratbal aimed to strengthen outreach for senior citizen health security.

Besides, Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, the camp was attended by Head Community Medicine, GMC Srinagar, Dr Mohammad Saleem; SDM East, Zubair Ahmad; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tahir Sajad; Block Medical Officer, Hazratbal, Dr Abdul Majeed; District Manager CSC, Asrar Shirazi, other senior Officers and Staff of the hospital.

The camp was organized by SDH Block Hazratbal in collaboration with the Department of SPM, Government Medical College Srinagar, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from elderly residents. The participants were apprised of the benefits and advantages of the Vay Vandana health coverage initiative.

Addressing the gathering, the DC elaborated on the significance of the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card and encouraged senior citizens to come forward and enroll under the scheme. He stated that the initiative is designed to safeguard elderly citizens aged 70 years and above by offering extensive health coverage and protecting them from the financial burden of medical treatment, thereby promoting dignity and well-being in their later years.

The DC said that the District Administration Srinagar, in coordination with the Health Department and other stakeholders, has undertaken concerted efforts to ensure comprehensive coverage of all eligible beneficiaries under the scheme, so that no deserving senior citizen is left out and the benefits of the initiative reach every eligible individual across the district.

Special help desks were set up by the Health Department and Common Service Centre (CSC) teams to facilitate on-the-spot registration of beneficiaries by assisting them with the required documentation and enrolment procedures.

Earlier, during the camp, the BMO Hazratbal highlighted the objectives and key components of the Vay Vandana scheme.
