DDC Bla releases Evaluation Reports of Horticulture, Sheep Husbandry Deptts

BARAMULLA: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today released the Evaluation Study Report of the Modified High Density Plantation (MHDP) Scheme presented by the Department of Horticulture and the 3rd Annual Progress Report 2025–26 of the Department of Sheep Husbandry at the DC Office Baramulla.

The Evaluation Study on the MHDP highlighted the significant strides made in strengthening the horticulture sector in the district. The report provides a comprehensive assessment of implementation, achievements, beneficiary outreach, and key challenges, offering valuable insights for planners, administrators, policymakers, and researchers.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the evaluation study serves as an important document to understand the progress achieved and to further streamline interventions for sustainable growth and higher returns for farmers.

Meanwhile, the DDC released the 3rd Annual Progress Report 2025–26 of the Department of Sheep Husbandry, presenting a consolidated account of sectoral growth and service expansion across the district.

The report documents the upgradation of veterinary healthcare infrastructure, the strengthening of diagnostic facilities, the establishment of a Smart Operation Theatre at Uri, the development of the Small Ruminant Veterinary Hospital Chijhama, the expansion of sheep and goat units under ISDS, and the success stories of progressive farmers.

The DDC appreciated the sustained institutional efforts of the Sheep Husbandry Department to improve service delivery and expand outreach to remote and highland areas, and remarked that strengthening veterinary infrastructure and disease control mechanisms directly contribute to improving livestock productivity.

Chief Planning Officer Baramulla, District Information Officer, District Horticulture Officer Baramulla, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Baramulla and other officers were present during the release of the evaluation report.
