SRINAGAR: The administration has restored all essential services, including electricity, besides clearing 75 percent of the 20,000-kilometre snow from roads across Kashmir, Divisional Commissioner (Div-Com) Kashmir Anshul Garg said on Saturday, assuring that the remaining roads would be cleared by evening.
Garg said around 15,000 kilometers of roads have been cleared of snow since Friday, while other essential services, including power supply, have already been restored.
He said the concerned departments are working round the clock to clear snow from roads in remote areas, adding that the road clearance work would be completed by evening.
“Road clearance work is underway in all remote areas and will be finished by the evening as per the directions of the Chief Minister,” the Div-Com told media persons after paying tributes to martyrs at the Balidan Stambh in Pratap Park here.
Extending Republic Day greetings to the people of Kashmir, Garg invited citizens, especially children, to attend the main Republic Day function on January 26 at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar. He said all divisional-level arrangements for the celebrations have been completed.
“Ten schoolchildren parade contingents and eleven security force contingents, including the J&K Police, have completed preparations and are rehearsing. Despite adverse weather conditions, all departments worked tirelessly to prepare the venue,” he added.
Garg urged attendees to reach the venue by 8 am and occupy their seats by 8:30 am to avoid inconvenience.
