Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma stated that consumer confidence forms the backbone of any economic system. He stressed that strict adherence to ethical practices and regulatory compliance is essential for the credibility and long-term stability of the Direct Selling industry.

He said that the government is vigorously strengthening the consumer protection mechanisms through policy reforms, digital monitoring systems and awareness programmes, ensuring that business growth goes hand in hand with accountability and fairness.

Referring to youth empowerment, the Minister highlighted technology’s role in transforming public service delivery and enhancing transparency, grievance redressal and market surveillance. He also noted that direct selling can provide meaningful livelihood opportunities, especially for youth and women, when supported by skill development and compliance frameworks.

The Minister also lauded the contributions of sports personalities present at the conclave, noting that the values of discipline, integrity and perseverance demonstrated by the sportspersons serve as powerful lessons for industry and society alike.

The conclave witnessed the presence of eminent personalities, including Olympic Medallist, Sakshi Malik, Arjuna Awardee Satyawart Kadian, Padma Bhushan and Padma Awardee Brigadier Anil Kohli and former Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Hem Pande.
