SRINAGAR: Social Welfare Department (SWD), Srinagar, through SANKALP-Hub for Empowerment of Women under Mission Shakti, today organised an Awareness-cum-Sensitisation Programme focusing on the national campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” at JLNM Hospital, Rainawari.
The programme was conducted under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative to raise awareness about the adverse social, health and legal consequences of child marriage and strengthening collective efforts to eradicate the practice.
Speakers emphasised that achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat is intrinsically linked to the holistic development, protection and empowerment of girls.
Participants were informed that the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign aims to reduce the prevalence of child marriage by 10 percent by 2026 and to make India child marriage free by 2030.
The event witnessed active participation from doctors, nursing staff and FMPHWs of JLNM Hospital.
