Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Shopian and recovered a “significant quantity” of contraband substance from them.
A police spokesperson informed that in Ganjibagh (Chadoora) village police intercepted and arrested one Mehraban Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Qayoom Bhat, resident of Gopalpora, after approximately 7 kilograms and 910 grams of semi-grinded cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Keegam Shopian, at Haji Check crossing, police recovered approximately 896 grams of cannabis-like substance from one Shamim Ahmad Bhat, resident of Poterwal Keegam. Bhat was also arrested.
Cases under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act have been registered at respective police stations for investigation, police said.
