Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday produced a chargesheet before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu, against Chander Sekhar Vohra, a local businessman here.

The case pertains to an alleged attempt to bribe the then Superintendent of Police, City South, Jammu, for seeking undue favour in connection with the extension of the date of an exhibition-cum-sale at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

Officials said the case was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu following a written complaint lodged by the then SP City South, Jammu. In the complaint, it was alleged that the accused had approached her seeking an extension of the exhibition date and attempted to influence her by offering a bribe of Rs 30,000.

During the course of the investigation, an ACB team was constituted, and a trap was laid. The accused, identified as Chander Sekhar Vohra, was caught red-handed in the office of the SP City South, Jammu, while offering a bribe amount of Rs 30,000 for seeking undue favour. The bribe money was recovered and seized on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses.

After completion of the investigation, which established the allegations as proved, the Anti-Corruption Bureau produced the chargesheet against the accused before the competent court on December 24, 2025, for judicial determination.

Further proceedings in the case are now subject to the orders of the Anti-Corruption Court, Jammu. (KNT)
