Ministers extend Christmas greetings

JAMMU: Senior Ministers Satish Sharma and Sakeena Itoo on Tuesday extended warm Christmas greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, with special messages of goodwill for the Christian community, on the joyous occasion of Christmas.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, described Christmas as a festival that embodies peace, love, compassion and selfless service. He said the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ inspire humanity to uphold truth, humility and harmony, values essential for building a just and inclusive society. Emphasising unity in diversity as a hallmark of J&K’s rich cultural heritage, the Minister called for strengthening bonds of brotherhood and mutual respect. He also underscored the importance of reaching out to the underprivileged and ensuring that development and welfare benefits reach all sections of society, especially during festive occasions.

Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo said that Christmas symbolises love, compassion, sacrifice and hope, values that hold immense relevance in present times. She noted that such occasions serve as reminders to renew the spirit of harmony, communal coexistence and mutual respect, highlighting Jammu and Kashmir’s long tradition of peaceful coexistence.

Both the Ministers prayed for peace, prosperity and progress of Jammu and Kashmir and wished the people happiness, harmony and goodwill on the festive occasion.
