Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Senior Men’s Softball Team delivered a strong performance at the 47th Senior National Softball Championship, securing the 3rd Runner-Up position and winning the Bronze Medal at the prestigious national event held at Dattapulia, West Bengal, from December 14 to 18, 2025.
Competing against 27 teams from across the country, the J&K contingent showcased discipline, resilience and technical skill throughout the championship, marking a significant milestone for the sport in the Union Territory. The podium finish is being hailed as a historic achievement for J&K men’s softball at the national level.
The team was fully sponsored and deputed by the J&K Sports Council, which provided comprehensive logistical and institutional support, enabling the players to focus entirely on their on-field performance.
Congratulating the team, Yasha Mudgal, IAS, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, said the achievement reflects the growing depth of sporting talent in Jammu and Kashmir. “Securing a podium finish at a national championship is a clear indicator that J&K teams are becoming increasingly competitive on the national stage, owing to sustained investment in athlete development,” she said.
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, also lauded the players for their dedication and consistent effort. “The 3rd Runner-Up finish by our Senior Men’s Softball team is the result of focused training, commitment and the right competitive exposure. We remain committed to strengthening both grassroots and elite-level sports to ensure continued progress at national and international levels,” she said.
