BARAMULLA: Nasir Aejaz Sufi of Baramulla has brought recognition to Jammu and Kashmir after being part of the Indian Boys’ Under-15 Volleyball Team that secured a bronze medal at the ISF Under-15 World School Volleyball Championship held in Shangluo, China.
The achievement came during India’s maiden appearance at the championship under the banner of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), marking a significant milestone for Indian school volleyball at the international level.
The Indian team delivered consistent performances throughout the tournament, putting up strong displays in the group stage and competing effectively against international opponents to finish on the podium.
Nasir’s selection followed rigorous national trials, reflecting his steady progress through India’s grassroots sports system. His early training was supported by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, followed by intensive preparation at the national coaching camp ahead of the championship.
The bronze medal finish is being seen as an encouraging development for school-level sports in India and is expected to inspire young athletes in Jammu and Kashmir and beyond to pursue competitive sports with greater confidence.
