Dir Social Welfare reviews departmental working in Baramulla

BARAMULLA, JULY 21: Director Social Welfare Kashmir Mohammad Qasim today visited Baramulla where he reviewed the functioning of Social Welfare department besides taking stock of the implementation of various welfare schemes and programmes.

District Social Welfare Officer Showket Ahmad Showket, District Information Officer Choudary Mudasir Hussain, Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, Social Workers and various other concerned officers and Officials were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, District Social Welfare Officer briefed the Director about the status of various programmes and schemes besides giving a thorough account of its progress. He informed the Director that under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) Rs 1283.04 crore have been distributed among 33142 beneficiaries under different components of the scheme viz Old age pension scheme, Widow Pension Scheme and Physically Challenged Persons scheme.

“Under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Rs 17.04 lakh among 889 beneficiaries and Rs 2.40 lakh among 148 beneficiaries have been distributed in Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) components respectively”, DSWO said. He also said that under State Marriage Assistance Scheme, Rs 152.00 lakh among 400 beneficiaries have been distributed in the current fiscal.

Meanwhile, the Director complemented the concerned for their satisfactory work and stressed for the inclusion of more and more destitute and poor within the ambit of these welfare programmes. He said that government has launched several welfare programmes for uplifting the downtrodden section of the society. Moreover, he exhorted upon awareness dissemination among masses and directed the concerned to conduct awareness camps at various levels so that maximum number of people benefit from them.
