SRINAGAR: Commissioner Secretary Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Saurabh Bhagat, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting regarding the functioning of the Directorate of FCS&CA, Kashmir, in the wake of the extreme winter season in the valley.
The Commissioner Secretary was informed that 100 percent storing of ration for the upcoming winter season in all border districts has been achieved, following past practices. This critical stocking has also been completed in the Gurez area of Bandipora district, ensuring food security to the beneficiaries.
Presenting a detailed PowerPoint Presentation, the Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir, apprised that significant progress on Technology Reforms (SMART- PDS) has been registered, positioning the Public Distribution System (PDS) for greater efficiency and transparency. He informed that the performance of the department under Rightful Targeting, Integrated Adhaar enabled Supply Chain Management System (IAeSCMS), e-KYC and implementation of e-Office is up to the mark.
Providing the details of implementation of the supply chain management system, the Director informed that a monthly saving of around Rs 10 lakh per month is expected in the valley with implementation of this ambitious system.
The Commissioner Secretary issued firm directives, demanding strict and time bound implementation of all initiatives of Central government across the Union Territory.
Saurabh Bhagat underscored that these schemes must be executed in letter and spirit and adhere to prescribed timelines. He further emphasized that a rigorous approach is paramount to ensure that the benefits of the Public Distribution System (PDS) reach every single beneficiary as per their entitlement.
