Murrad 7th Street CC crowned champions of 3rd CRPF Cup 2025

Srinagar: Murrad 7th Street Cricket Club lifted the trophy of the 3rd Edition CRPF Cup 2025 after defeating Batwara Sports Club in a high-voltage final played at the iconic Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Sonwar.

After winning the toss, Batwara Sports Club elected to bat and posted a competitive total of 181 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Murrad 7th Street CC displayed a dominant batting performance, chasing down the target with ease by scoring 183 runs for 3 wickets in just 18.1 overs, securing a convincing victory.

The tournament concluded with a grand closing ceremony attended by senior officers and dignitaries. The stadium reverberated with cheers from thousands of spectators, creating an electrifying sporting atmosphere complemented by live commentary and music. The event also witnessed massive digital engagement, with over 45 lakh viewers tuning in through live streaming across social media platforms.

Rajesh Kumar, ADG J&K Zone of the Central Reserve Police Force, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other prominent dignitaries included Vineet Brij Lal, IG (KOS) CRPF; Pawan Kumar Sharma, IG Srinagar Sector; P. R. Jambholkar, DIG (Administration), besides officers from J&K Police, CRPF, representatives from University of Kashmir and Ujala Hospitals.

Welcoming the gathering, IG Srinagar Sector Pawan Kumar Sharma said that registration of over 123 teams reflected the growing popularity and success of the tournament. Addressing the gathering, ADG Rajesh Kumar emphasized that such sporting events highlight CRPF’s continued efforts to channelize youth energy in a positive and constructive direction. He congratulated both winners and runners-up for their dedication, discipline and sportsmanship, adding that the CRPF Cup has evolved into one of the most anticipated grassroots sporting events in the Valley.

The trophies and medals were presented to the players by ADG Rajesh Kumar, accompanied by IG Vineet Brij Lal and IG Pawan Kumar Sharma.
